The SafeSkin Neck Garment is a single-use apparel item designed for use in clinical environments where thyroid radiation shields are worn. It is intended to be worn beneath reusable thyroid shields to provide a clean, hygienic barrier between the clinician’s skin and shared protective equipment.

Instructions for Use

1. Preparation

  • Perform hand hygiene according to your facility’s protocol before handling the garment

  • Remove one garment from its packaging, taking care not to contaminate it

2. Application

  • Place the garment around the neck so it fully covers the area where the thyroid shield will rest

  • Ensure the material lies flat against the skin without folds or bunching

  • Secure as designed (e.g., overlap or fastening mechanism, depending on style)

3. Use with Thyroid Shield

  • Position the reusable thyroid shield over the garment

  • Adjust both the garment and shield to ensure proper fit, coverage, and comfort

4. During Use

  • Wear for the duration of the procedure or shift, as appropriate

  • Replace immediately if the garment becomes visibly soiled, damp, or damaged

5. Removal and Disposal

  • Remove the garment carefully, avoiding contact with the outer surface

  • Dispose of immediately after use in accordance with facility waste protocols

  • Perform hand hygiene after disposal
